Super Mario Bros 2 Review

Super Mario Bros 2 Review

Some of the things you migth think of when you think about the SMB series is jumping on your enemies and holding down a button to gain speed. This is some of the things SMB 2 do not give you. It makes SMB2 sligthly diferent from the rest of the serie, and in a negative way.

Conscept: You can choose to be Toad, Peach, Mario or Luigi. They are somewhat diferent from each other. If you have played SSBM, you will know that Peach can float in midair by holding down the jump button. Well, that comes from this game. You basically jump on top of enemies or objects then press down to lift them up. Frowing your enemies want kill them unless you from them out of the course or hit another enemy. Just as the other SMB games, the conscept of figthing enemies is very simple. However picking them up isn't as fun as jumping on them.

Apart from that, it is very much like the other SMB games. It doesn't look as good, though. The colors are pretty lame. The enemies aren't as cool, but the bosses are better than in SMB 1.

All in all it is not a bad game, but it is not close to the other SMB games.

I don't care what other people say, Mario 2 I would say within the top 5 mario games of all time. Yes it is a little out in left field but that's what makes the game appealing. It's not a typical cliched platformer and I respect Nintendo trying to do something different.

Many people who play this game for the first time in this era of gaming will probably think I've completely lost it. I think it's good see outside the box and Mario 2 really shows that. It's fun because you can essentially play each level "4 times" by being able to choose between Mario,Luigi,Princess and Toad.

Yes each level is easier to clear with certain characters but I'm just pointing out that the replay value is there. If you've never had a chance to play Mario 2, it's definitely worth checking out just because of the sheer wackiness.
